NPE (Not Parent Expected) Nurses, or NPEN, is a collective of registered nursing professionals volunteering to support the needs of those navigating DNA surprises. Together, we work to identify and understand the unique interests and needs of NPE clients. We deliver care with the goal of supporting such clients through community and mental health resources. Many among our team have personally experienced an NPE event. An NPE event can be deeply unsettling and lead to a profound identity crisis. Ideally this process is supported by a team of professionals committed to providing experience-guided, specialized care.
